Written by a CPA. For CPAs. It takes one to know one.
I’m a CPA. I’ve put my name on real returns, real statements, real audits — my licence on the line every time. AI is going to do more of our work than most of us are ready for. I don’t think we should fear it, and I don’t think we should ban it. I think we should govern it — and the only people who can govern it properly are the ones who’ve had to sign.
So this is what I’ll put my name on — and what I’m asking every accountant who feels the same to sign with me.
AI can prepare the work. A licensed professional reviews it, controls it, and signs it. Nothing is final until a person puts their name on it.
Every figure traced to its source. Every doubt flagged. A glass box, not a black box.
Better an honest “I’m not sure” than a confident mistake.
Encrypted and access-controlled — never used, sold, or trained on. Exportable in full, and able to run on your own servers or a local model, where no one outside your firm can see it.
We will not solicit them. Ever. In writing.
From doing the work to judging it. From preparer to signer. We build for that job — not around it.
If you’re a CPA who believes the name on the work still matters — add yours. The list goes up as names come in.
